Our staff members will be working at the Carnival, so please come out and join us for a fun afternoon and meet the people and residents at Heritage Center, who make it such a wonderful place to have, in the Minster Community.” – B. Heritage Center had some wonderful entertainment by Rick Hefner. He is a delightful singer and entertainer. The residents really enjoyed his music, including some Oldies but Goodies. Here are just a few comments from the residents that attended the evening event:

“We are celebrating Christmas in July at Heritage Center this month. The residents decorated the tree in the morning on July 25, 2016. They had a Hobo luncheon fresh off of the outdoor grill. After lunch everyone enjoyed a game of Christmas Jingo, made Christmas crafts, and snacked on Christmas cookies, candies and roll-ups. We toasted one another with sparkling juice, as we remembered past Christmas celebrations. Our afternoon ended with Christmas Trivia. Everyone enjoyed the day!” – Ann Miller, Activities Director


“I had a very nice time celebrating Christmas in July at Heritage Center. I enjoyed the time we had with fellow residents. We all had a good lunch that was prepared for us on the outdoor grill. It was a Hobo luncheon which consisted of a variety of different foods all grilled together. Later we played games, made Christmas crafts, played Christmas trivia and remembered past Christmas celebrations with our families.” – J. May

“I have been a hair stylist for 21 years. I started working at Heritage Center a year ago. I enjoy this type of work because it is very meaningful to me. I know the residents really appreciate what I do for them. The staff here is wonderful, (especially Sandy B). I’m here two days a week and I usually do on average 15-20 residents. Heritage offers a nice salon to work in, as well as supplying hair products for me to work with.” – C. Snider – Hair Stylist


“We really enjoyed the Fathers day meal with my family. The food was really good and the Heritage Activity staff and Dietary staff made it a very enjoyable time as usual! “The Father’s Day Dinner was very nice. We had a wonderful meal prepared by our very own Heritage Dietary. It was served to our [resident] Fathers and family members by our activity and concierge staff. The meal included an open faced hot roast beef and gravy sandwich, mashed potatoes, and cooked carrots. There was delicious Cherry pie with whipped cream for dessert. After dinner, we had singing entertainment by Rick Hefner. It was a very enjoyable evening had by all that attended.” – B. “I went to the Maria Stein Country Fest outing today. We had lunch and watched the Tractor Square Dancing show. There was also a Team Rock –USA National Champion Extreme Breaking Team, which was Martial Arts Breaking Experts with extreme breaking skills and theatrics.” – J. May


“I went on the outing today to the Maria Stein Country Fest. This is an annual festival that I enjoy going to every year to see the tractor square dancing show. The entertainment includes: local bands to crafts, food, and the rides for the kids. It has grown over the years since I was a kid, but I still enjoy going to see what new things they have added. “I have been at Heritage Center for 3 weeks now. Everyone here is very friendly and helpful. The Nursing staff is very good.The rooms are very nice and very clean, thanks to housekeeping. Overall I am very pleased with my stay here at Heritage Center.” – A. Beers


“I worked at Heritage Center for 30 years as a nurse aid, since 1978. Now I am now living here as a resident. I enjoy the activities here. There is a good variety of things to do. The most recent activity I really enjoyed doing was called “Getting Artsy with Sharon.” It was a painting activity that took about an hour. She showed us a picture to paint and wanted us to be creative with our painting ability. It was a lot of fun to see everyone’s creation. I enjoy doing different activities because it keeps you busy and you might learn something new.” – A. M. Dircksen

“I was transferred from the hospital to Heritage Center for rehabilitation. The Heritage community staff is very nice and helpful. I have received excellent care. My father-in-law was here in 2000, so I was familiar with what the facility had to offer. The rooms are clean and the food is good. “I have worked at Heritage Center since 1982. I started out in the Laundry Service and Housekeeping. I then became a Supervisor for Laundry Services. I did those jobs for 14 years. “I really enjoy keeping the residents busy with different activities. One of my favorites is Crafts with Kayla. I pick a different craft for them to make each month and they really seem to enjoy it. The interaction and creativity is a great way for them to spend time with one another. I also like the outings we go on, such as the Wapakoneta Antique Tractor Show, which is coming up soon. That brings a lot of discussion to our Cappuccino Chats on Fridays. For the residents who aren’t able to go out of the building, we offer One-on-One Visits (activities does daily greetings or provides in room activity). One of us visits every resident daily and those who are here for rehab we usually provide reading materials-cards- laptop etc.” – K. Tangeman, Activities Assistant


“A special thanks to our volunteers, who celebrated volunteer week with us at Heritage Center. This included a very nice luncheon prepared by the dietary staff of Heritage Center. We are proud of our volunteer program which includes up to 85 of the volunteers who donate their time to the residents which live here. They are an important part of the daily living activities that are provided to the residents such as, religious services, entertainment, assisting with crafts & games, reading to the residents, as well as providing a friendly one on one visit with them. When talking to Gloria about Nursing Home week, her what her favorite part of the week was, “Olympics’ Day! When we had to try and throw a ping pong ball onto a piece of bread that had peanut butter spread on it. You would have thought it was going to be easy, but it took me all three tries to finally get it to stick!” Gloria also enjoyed “American Heritage Band” which one of our employees sings in. “He made me sing at one point, thank goodness it was a small part since I’m not a very good singer!”
